Adolescence & Beyond Conference
Founded by Gina Dermody, the annual Adolessence & Beyond Conference is dedicated to adolescent mental health and development. The event unites professionals and parents, creating a shared space to deepen understanding of the adolescent challenges it presents. By working together, the conference aims to strengthen support for teenagers and promote practical ways to improve their mental health and wellbeing.

Adolescence & Beyond Conference
8th April 2025
The annual Adolessence & Beyond Conference took place in Salthill, Co. Galway, bringing together a diverse panel of speakers from the fields of medicine, psychology, psychotherapy, and family therapy. Topics explored throughout the day included adolescent development, identity formation, managing anxiety, and gaining a deeper understanding of the autism journey. Each speaker shared their expertise and insights, offering the audience a rich wealth of knowledge and practical experience.
We were delighted to have Dr Mary O’Kane as our MC, guiding us through a remarkable line-up that featured Dr Joanna Fortune, Stella O’Malley, Dr Richard Hogan, Adam Harris (CEO of AsIAm), and Dr Malie Coyne.
A highlight of the event was our “Hear My Voice” segment, which centred on the lived
experiences of young people, offering an authentic and powerful perspective.
The day concluded with a lively panel discussion, giving attendees the opportunity to engage directly with our speakers. We were also joined by Dr Josen McGrane, Consultant Psychiatrist, and Emmet Major from Planet Youth, who added further depth and expertise to the conversation.

Adolescence & Beyond Conference

The inaugural Adolessence & Beyond Conference was held at the Louis Fitzgerald Hotel, Dublin City, and marked a powerful day of learning, connection, and collaboration.
Guided by our MC, Dr. Mary O’Kane, the event brought together a diverse panel of leading voices from medicine, psychology, psychotherapy, and family therapy.
Our outstanding line-up of speakers included Dr. Richard Hogan, Dr. Malie Coyne, Stella O’Malley, and Dr. Josen McGrane, Consultant Psychiatrist. Together, they shared their expertise on vital topics such as teenage mental health, pathways into a range of services, and the importance of counselling for both teenagers and parents. Delegates left with fresh insights, practical strategies, and a renewed sense of support in working with young people and their families.
